LTUT Anti-Binge Drinking Campaign Returns to SHU

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Anti-binge drinking initiative LessThanUThink (LTUT) returns to Sacred Heart University and will host its second event of the semester, Friday, Oct. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m., inside the freshman dorms including Seton Hall, Merton Hall and Roncalli Hall. The LTUT pre-concert event will raise awareness of the negative consequences of binge drinking focused around pre-concert activities.

During the LTUT pre-concert event, LTUT student team members will hand out souvenirs to students consisting of bandanas and water bottles. While the team gives away the items, they will be informing the concert attendees about the unfavorable effects binge drinking may cause if they participate in this risky social trend before they attend the Eli Young Band concert.

The slogan “U think you can make it to the concert, and you could three drinks ago,” serves as a reminder to students about the effects of binge drinking and encourages them to make smart decisions before attending the concert.

”I am excited to help with the LTUT campaign again in hopes that we can reach more of our student body. This year we have a large freshman class, so I am looking forward to the opportunity to get even more students actively involved. We hope that LTUT will raise awareness of the dangers of binge drinking and will provide students with the information they need to stay safe,” said Nicole Trommelen, LTUT Student Leader and member of the Wellness Education and Empowerment Team (S.W.E.E.T.) at SHU.

LTUT was created by advertising and public relations students at The University of Alabama and addresses the national problem of college-age binge drinking for the 2009 National Student Advertising Competition, hosted by The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol and Responsibility (FAAR) and the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

LTUT is directed at college students, to increase awareness of the negative outcomes of binge drinking and further motivate students to make responsible decisions when consuming alcohol.
