Pequot Library to Present Genealogy Roundtable with Witchy Focus, Oct. 11

Southport, CT – In honor of the season of witches and goblins, Pequot Library’s Genealogy Roundtable will feature a special focus on October 11, from 10am – 12pm, Do You Have a Witch in Your Family Tree? This program is free and open to the public.

Everybody’s talking about it - Connecticut state historians are all abuzz, Pequot Library’s Genealogist, Betty Oderwald is excited, the national organization of the Associated Daughters of Early American Witches is gaining popularity, and you can come to Pequot Library to discover if you do indeed have a witch in your ancestry. Or you may discover that your ancestor was an accuser, not an accused.

History tells us that the people who were called “witches” were more likely the healers, midwives, herbalists, and female landowners of the community. They were the nonconformists and generally feared. Pequot Library has many resources for this research. Come for a fun morning of digging up your ancestors. Witch or no witch you can still come to the Genealogy Roundtable and learn new strategies for your own exploration.
