Children's Author Chris Raschka at Pequot Library, Oct. 27

Southport, CT – Pequot Library kicks off this season of Meet the Author, Jr. programs with Chris Raschka, acclaimed children's book illustrator, author, and two-time Caldecott Medal winner for A Ball for Daisy and The Hello, Goodbye Window. He will demonstrate the art of hand-illustration on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 4:30pm - 5:30pm in Pequot Library’s Reading Room.

Raschka has written and/or illustrated more than sixty books for children, including Yo! Yes?, Charlie Parker Played Be Bop, Mysterious Thelonious, Sluggy Slug, Five for a Little One, and A Poke in the I. He has received a Caldecott Honor and two Caldecott Medals, the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award, and five New York Times Best Illustrated Book Awards.

This program is free and open to the public and is for ages 3-7. Raschka will entertain, educate, and inspire children with live demo drawings and readings from his stories. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Arrive early as space is limited. No registration is required.

The next Meet the Author, Jr. program will be on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, 4:30pm - 6:00pm, featuring New York Times best-selling author, Jane O'Connor, the author of the Fancy Nancy book series.                

On Sunday, December 7, 2014, 4:00pm - 6:00pm, author Peter Sis will share The Pilot and the Little Prince: The Life of Antoine de Saint Exupery. This willbe a 30 - 40 minute author talk for both children and adults, with a Q & A, book signing and refreshments.
