Pequot Library's Holiday Caroling Party: Fri. Dec. 19

Southport, CT – Pequot Library’s Holiday Caroling Party and Open House will take place on Friday, December 19, from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Seasonal activities include: old-fashioned family fun, holiday carols, and crafts for the kids with cookie decorating and pine cone bird-feeders. This annual community gathering showcases a caroling performance by vocalist, Katherine Waugh, and her hand-picked choir, plus a bonfire on the Great Lawn tended by Fairfield Boy Scout Troop 82.

Unique to the area are horse-drawn carriage rides through the Southport Village. Go to www.pequotlibrary.org for more information on the carriage rides. Open to the public, admission is one unwrapped new book which Pequot Library will donate to a Bridgeport children literacy initiative.

New this year will be New York City Teaching Artists facilitating hands-on art activities tailored to children and youth (ages 7 and over). Pequot Library’s goal is to provide an activity for everyone: the young AND the young at heART!

Choir leader and Easton resident, Katherine Waugh, plays clarinet, tenor sax, and piano, yet it is as a vocalist that she truly excels. A member of her church and school choirs from an early age, Waugh is currently a member of the Barlow Select Choir and A Cappella singing group. Since 2007 she has been a member and soloist with the Fairfield County Children’s Choir, having appeared at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, and Dvorak Hall in Prague.

The festive events will populate Pequot Library’s Auditorium/Concert Hall, Reading Room, and Great Lawn. Sponsors include: Kasson Jewelers of Southport and Fairfield Country Day School.
