Sleep Solutions Wellness Program: Jan. 7

Fairfield, Conn. – The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center will host the fourth lecture in its series of eight “Evenings of Wellness” on January 7, 2015. The fourth lecture is titled "Sleep Solutions: Regain Your Rest!"

This lecture will be led by Dr. Mary Jo Vasquez, Ph. D., who will discuss the following important topics:

• Various types of disorders.
• Underlying causes.
• Consequences of not getting adequate sleep.
• Treatment options and remedies for improving sleep.

Dr. Vasquez, a CT native, completed her BS in Psychology at Trinity College in Hartford, and both her Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at George Washington University. She also  completed an internship at Pennsylvania Hospital, where she focused on severe and chronic mental health populations. Prior to joining the Norma Pfriem Breast Care Center, Dr. Vasquez worked as a Staff Psychologist at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she developed and implemented inpatient psychotherapy programs and staff training and education modules that have become mainstays in the inpatient mental health system of care. 

She has spent her career devoted to helping others face life's challenges and adversities, ranging from individuals with life-threatening illnesses such as cancer and HIV to those who have histories of physical, sexual, and/or emotional trauma. Specific areas of interest and expertise include: trauma/PTSD, diagnosis of severe or chronic illness/oncology, depression, bereavement and loss, infertility, pre- and post-partum issues, insomnia/sleep disorders and anxiety disorders.
