Celebrating their 20th season, the 300 young singers of Fairfield County Children's Choir will present their annual Broadway concert and silent auction fundraiser “Timeless Favorites and Today’s Hits” at the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport on Saturday, February 7 at 7pm.
Jon Noyes is founder and director of the group. Local music educators Lisa Bettke, Kevin Cotellese and Ashley Zadravecz will also conduct portions of the program, with Donna Beatty accompanying.
From the time-honored tradition of Fiddler on the Roof and the Edwardian nannies and chimney sweeps of Mary Poppins, to the smooth rhythm and blues of Motown: The Musical and the fantastic break-out phenomenon Frozen, FCCC has been rehearsing songs for the program since early September. In addition to choruses, student soloists will step into the spotlight to add their unique interpretations of the familiar songs. An ensemble of professional instrumentalist dubbed the "FCCC Orchestra" will accompany the group onstage.
In addition to the concert, FCCC's biggest fundraising event of the season will be conducted before the concert starting at 5:30 pm and during intermission in the auditorium's lobby. A silent auction of a wide array of items, donated by the group's supporters has been an annual source of scholarship funding for years.
