Kids4Kids Benefit Concert: March 22 @ The Klein

Five hundred children from the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras (GBYO) and Fairfield County Children’s Choir (FCCC) will come together to sing and play music at the upcoming Kids4Kids Concert, 3 pm, Sunday, March 22, at the Klein Memorial Auditorium, 910 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. The concert is a benefit performance for the Kennedy Center of Trumbull, CT, which provides services to children with disabilities. GBYO & FCCC are also beneficiaries.
 
This special performance by two of the most prestigious youth organizations in the area will uplift the audience with the beauty and joy of music. No audience member will be unaffected by the positive vibe of 500 children making music together.
 
Some of the works to be performed are Sing Me to Heaven, Danny Boy, Bridge Over Troubled Water, America the Beautiful, I’m Goin’ Up a Yonder, For the Beauty of the Earth and Let There Be Peace on Earth. The choirs and orchestras will perform some pieces together and some separately during the program.
 
The Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras, founded in 1961, offers one of the finest opportunities for young musicians in Connecticut. GBYO members in grades 5-12, coming from nearly 30 communities in Fairfield and New Haven counties, are selected by audition. The GBYO program is developmentally progressive, with five orchestras and a Jazz Band, giving ensemble members the opportunity to play at the highest level both individually and collectively
 
The mission of the Fairfield County Children’s Choir (FCCC) is to provide children the opportunity to participate in a musical experience which is challenging, rewarding and enjoyable. Through the process of practicing and performing choral music with excellence and artistry, the FCCC helps to foster the personal, musical and social growth of each child, promoting self-esteem and self-discipline.
 
The Kennedy Center, a private, community-based rehabilitation organization, actively responds to needs of persons with disabilities by offering innovative and comprehensive community services. The Kennedy Center Children’s Services partners with families to provide flexible and individualized community-based services.
