Fairfield, Conn. – The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce (www.FairfieldCTChamber.com) and the Fairfield YMCA are proud to bring together wellness exhibitors, providing information about health and wellness for both people and pets on Sunday, May 3rd. The free, rain or shine event is open to the public and will be held at the Fairfield YMCA, 841 Post Road, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fitness demonstrations (Ninja Kids, Outdoor Boot Camp, Qi Gong) massage chairs, screenings, spinning will be held at various times throughout the day.

Inside the YMCA, one area will be set up for professionals who work with pets, including dog groomers and veterinarians. Pet bandanas will be distributed to the first 100 attendees by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. A separate area will feature doctors, chiropractic practitioners, fitness experts, nutritionists and other professionals who work with people. Some professionals will offer screenings (vein) and the Department of Health will do a sugar demonstration, which shows people how much sugar is in different beverages, talk about MyPlate plus give nutrition information/education. Also look for promotional items and giveaways from Expo sponsors and exhibitors.

Karen Backus, Executive Director of the Fairfield YMCA, said, “We are happy to be the host site for this important Chamber event. "This is a unique and very exciting Expo concept that we think is an important way to help people learn about the growing number of health-related products and services available for the whole family throughout Fairfield County," said Fairfield Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz. "And since pets are very much a part of people's families and in need of healthcare services too, we wanted to include them."

Balaz said the event is made possible by the generous support of Vein Institute of Connecticut and other area businesses. Also sponsoring the event are Saugatuck Rowing Club, ZenRide, Physical Synergy, Maplewood Senior Living and Massage Envy of Fairfield.

"Vein Institute of Connecticut is proud to be a new member of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and also the Event Sponsor for this new and very important Wellness Expo," said Michael Berluti, Physician Liaison/Marketing, Vein Institute of CT. "Vein health is critically important, and if left untreated, can develop into more serious problems: spider or varicose veins, Restless Leg Syndrome, skin changes, swelling or ulcers. Whether for cosmetic or health reasons, the Vein Institute of Connecticut can identify problems using the state-of-the-art Doppler ultrasound imaging, and treat patients using the latest minimally invasive treatment innovations, such as Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) or Radiofrequency Ablations (EVRF). We look forward to meeting the residents in the Fairfield area to discuss any of their concerns and answer any questions they may have regarding vein health.”

There is still some room available to businesses who are interested in exhibiting, including healthy food items. Fairfield businesses should call the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce regarding table availability. The cost is $225 for chamber members and $299 for non-members. Event information is updated daily, so check the Chamber website for the most current exhibitor listings. Volunteers are also needed.
