Tai Chi & Qigong Classes at Pequot Library

Southport, CT – Like the birds flying North after a long winter in the South, Tai Chi & Qigong Classes return to the Great Lawn at Pequot Library, starting on Friday, April 24, 2015, from 9:30am - 10:30am. Participants actively bring harmony and balance to their lives by practicing these soothing movements.

Each class is comprised of classic Tai Chi & Qigong warm-ups, gentle and dynamic flowing movements and guided meditations. Increase flexibility, strength and the immune system; quiet the mind and reduce stress. Learn the benefit of standing meditation for improving sleep and a before-bedtime routine of simple forms and self-massage. Connect with nature on Pequot Library's expansive Great Lawn. No prior experience is required and all ages are welcome. Tea served after practice. The cost is $45 for five sessions, online in advance at pequotlibrary.org, or $10 per drop-in individual session.

Tai Chi & Qigong offer a simple, yet powerful way to relax and take care of yourself physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Tai Chi is a Chinese tradition of gentle, flowing exercise and stretching accompanied by deep breathing, keeping the body in constant motion.

Qigong is the Chinese mind/body art of cultivating, circulating and building energy through physical movement, posture control, and meditation. Trained instructor, Julie Moffat is certified through the Institute of Integral Qigong & Tai Chi. She has studied a variety of Qigong styles and is a member of the National Qigong Association.

The five sessions are on Fridays: April 24; May 1; May 8; May 15; and May 22. Participants are asked to wear comfortable, loose-fitting seasonal outdoor attire as necessary.
