Student Art Show @ Pequot Library, 5/26-28

Southport, CT – Fairfield’s Townwide Student Art Show will be held at Pequot Library from Tuesday, May 26 until Thursday, May 28, with the opening reception on Wednesday, May 27, from 5:30pm - 8:30pm.

Encouraged reception viewing times: Elementary school families from 5:30pm - 7pm and then Secondary school families from 7pm - 8:30pm.

Fairfield public schools showcase more than 800 two-dimensional plus many 3D artworks. The exhibition is a tribute to the talented students and teachers at Fairfield’s two high schools, three middle schools and 11 elementary schools, exemplifying the progression of work from kindergarten through high school.

It is one of the gala events of the Fairfield school year and means so much to the students to know that their community is recognizing them. This show is a wonderful opportunity for our students to display not only the outstanding pieces from each grade level but to demonstrate the building blocks of Fairfield’s art program.

Hundreds of proud parents, students and educators will wander through the exhibition, admiring the color schemes, patterns, compositions and ingenuity of the work. They will take pictures and selfies, hug their children and meet their art teachers.

Students' subject matter will range from figurative animals to abstract self-portraits. There are black-and-white pen-and-ink designs, paper structures, colorful paintings, wire figurines, vases, digital photographs and unique clay vessels. Art will be displayed in the Auditorium / Concert Hall, Reading Room and Rennell Room. The public is also invited to enjoy the Advanced Placement student art exhibition in The Perkin Gallery at Pequot Library through May 28.
