"Go Set A Watchman" Read-A-Thon, July 14

Celebrate the new Harper Lee novel, GO SET A WATCHMAN, with an all-day read-a-thon marking the book’s release date. Readers of every kind will participate in a live public reading of the eagerly-awaited new book at Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT on Tuesday, July 14, from 10am to 6pm. Event organizers will be scheduling a handful of readers every 20-30 minutes, reading a total of 2-3 pages each.

Originally written in the mid-1950s, GO SET A WATCHMAN was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

GO SET A WATCHMAN features many of the characters from To Kill a Mockingbird some twenty years later. Returning home to Maycomb to visit her father, Jean Louise Finch (Scout) struggles with issues both personal and political, involving Atticus, society and the small Alabama town that shaped her.

The entire community, including librarians, college professors, teachers, students, actors and book lovers of every stripe, will participate in this public read aloud event. Join the Bookstore for the Grand Unveiling of THE book of the summer! To sign up for a 20-minute reading slot, RSVP to FairfieldUBookstoreEvents@gmail.com.
