Fairfield, Conn. - The film Enough to Live On: The Arts of the WPA will be screened Wednesday, September 9 in the Rotary Room at Fairfield's Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. Executive Producer Terri Templeton will introduce the film and conduct a Q&A at the conclusion. Enough to Live On celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and the Federal Art Project, New Deal initiatives that put artists, writers, musicians and actors back to work as a part of the nation’s recovery from the Great Depression. To accommodate those coming by the Senior Bus, the movie will begin at 10:20 am. Registration is requested.
This film series is an extension of the Skype-a-Docent program which will resume this fall on October 14 with The Mattatuck Museum.
Skype-a-Docent offers tours of cultural interest, particularly art, to seniors and others who may not be able to travel out of town. A docent from various museums and venues takes us on a private tour via Skype – a video phone call. When the Skype call is projected onto the large screen in the Library’s Rotary Room, it allows us to view exhibits up close and to converse directly with our guide. Skype-a-Docent tours, featured in the spring and fall, are also brought by the Library to a few senior living facilities in town.
