Author Janet Barrett at Fairfield Library, Sept. 17

Fairfield, Conn. - Author Janet Barrett will talk about her book, They Called Her Reckless, on Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 pm in the Rotary Room at Fairfield's Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. They Called Her Reckless, based on the recollections of more than 60 Marines, is the story of a U.S. platoon during the Korean War that acquired a small pony to haul ammunition up the steep hills to the front lines. The courageous and indomitable Reckless stood with her buddies for two years, saving many lives, raising spirits and winning the love and respect of all. Books will be available for purchase and signing at this event. Registration is requested.

Janet Barrett’s experiences as a horsewoman gave her a particular appreciation for the tight bond that developed between Reckless and her fellow Marines. She has been fascinated by horses all her life and rode, owned and cared for them for 25 years.
