Southport, CT -- On Sunday, January 10, 2016, from 4-6pm, Author Susan Brinchman will speak about her book, "Gustave Whitehead: First in Flight".

The event will include:

• 30 - 40 minute author talk
• Q & A
• Book purchasing and refreshments

Learn about Gustave Whitehead, the man who accomplished "first in powered flight" as the inventor of the airplane, as well as his connection to Fairfield.

Susan Brinchman (via Skype) will present new evidence to credit Gustave Whitehead who was successful in powered flights two years before the Wright brothers. Join us to learn more about this hidden history in early aviation that took place in our own back yard. 

Guest speaker Andy Kosch, CT teacher, will bring a replica of the Whitehead #21 model.

About the author:
Susan O'Dwyer Brinchman, M. Ed, expert on Gustave Whitehead, is an experienced educator and early aviation researcher with a love of history. Closely involved with Whitehead research for the past five decades, present for key events such as interviews with witnesses, and familiar with the places Whitehead lived and flew, she is uniquely suited to present documentation for the achievements of this controversial aviation pioneer. A highly successful educator for 36 years, Ms. Brinchman holds four California teaching credentials, including Social Sciences, with a Masters Degree in Educational Technology. She resides in California.
