Bridgeport, CT - The Health Career Academy, a program of The WorkPlace, brings the 2016 Healthier You Resource Fair to Bridgeport this Saturday, October 29th. The fair is an opportunity for the community to access information about healthcare and wellness. The event will feature free health screenings, food, nutrition and fitness tips, children’s activities, and a host of interactive mini-classes. The fair will be held at Cesar A. Batalla School, 606 Howard Avenue, Bridgeport on Saturday, October 29th between 11am - 3pm.
The Health Career Academy is located in Bridgeport, CT on Fairfield Avenue and helps unemployed and low income residents begin careers in the health care industry. The purpose of this resource fair is to connect the community with a diverse selection of local health and wellness resources.

The 2016 Healthier You Resource Fair is a community effort. Many volunteers will donate their time and expertise to manage booths, run health screenings and provide support and peace of mind to people with health concerns.
Some highlights of planned activities:
- Over 35 vendors will share important health and wellness information.
- 9 free mini-programs will run throughout the day on the main stage and in the gym, including a healthy smoothie demonstration (11:30am), zumba and yoga classes (11:30am and 2:00pm), dental at-home care classes (12:10pm and 1:15pm), and a posture workshop (12:30pm).
- St. Vincent’s Medical Center’s Mobile Mammography Coach will be on site as well as Bridgeport Hospital providing information regarding blood pressure, stroke prevention and other health concerns.
- Nutrition and health tips along with free healthy recipes.
- Free give-aways for attendees, while supplies last.
Additionally, children’s activities will be available throughout the event, including face painting, balloon art, coloring, and children’s zumba (1:10pm).
