With busy lives, it is sometimes hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family, and your community. The circle of life with books at Pequot Library: the public donates gently used books year-round to Pequot Library for Pequot’s fundraising Book Sales. Book Sale Volunteers sort, price, and box books daily, then help out on the days of the Book Sale. Book lovers then purchase the books at the Book Sales, bringing the books back into new hands; the funds from the Book Sales directly support Pequot Library’s programs and services. Pequot Library presents four Book Sales a year including the year-round Lobby Book Sale which has changing monthly and seasonal themes.

Many Book Sale Volunteers have their own full-time jobs during the week and help sort and price books on weekends when they are available. Other volunteers are retired and make their own hours during the week. Younger volunteers, who are in school, help at the Book Sales themselves, especially the Summer Book Sale, known as “The Best Book Sale in New England.”
