"The Art of Buying Art" Talk at Fairfield Library, Jan. 17

Fairfield, CT -- The public is invited to attend a free art talk in the Rotary Room of the Fairfield Library on Tuesday, January 17 at 7 pm. The subject of the talk is “The Art of Buying Art” and it is being presented by Liz Tardif and Wendy Nylen.

Learn the basics of what you need to know about navigating the world of galleries and shows; assessing value; interpreting trends; buying originals or prints; starting or adding to your own personal collection; and understanding the basic psychological affects of color and how this could influence your preferences in choosing art.

Wendy Nylen is the owner of Picture This/Nylen Gallery in Westport. She managed Picture This from 1990 to 1999 and returned as gallery owner in 2007 after working in digital printing at Image Works of Westport. She is a graduate of Harvard University with a degree in Art History and an artist who uses pastel, acrylics, and oils.

In addition to her real estate career, Liz Tardif has been a curator for the Kershner Gallery for over 6 years.  She is the founder and owner of Cherry Street Art, an art marketing and advisory service; an officer for ennoble.global, a non-profit organization founded to preserve and promote the arts; and, for the past 5 years, has served on the Board for the Friends of the Fairfield Public Library.  Liz is a life-long artist herself.  She introduced and organized the Art Talk program for the library to bring more awareness and information about the visual arts to the community.
