Oscars Matinee Movie Series at Pequot Library Starting March 1

Southport, CT – What do films about an alien invasion, a lost boy in India, NASA female mathematicians, and an American neo-Western crime thriller have in common?  They are just a few of the 2017 Academy Award for Best Picture Nominees. Head to Pequot Library every Wednesday afternoon for nine weeks at 3:30 p.m. to see all nine nominated movies “on the big screen” in Pequot’s Auditorium. Bring your own refreshments to Pequot Presents: The Oscars Matinée Movie Series which is free and open to the public.

Kicking off the series is Arrival (PG-13), the story of linguistics professor Louise Banks (Amy Adams), the leader of an elite team of investigators when gigantic spaceships touch down in 12 locations around the world. As nations teeter on the verge of global war, Banks and her crew must race against time to find a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors. Hoping to unravel the mystery, she takes a chance that could threaten her life and quite possibly all of mankind.

Pequot Presents: The Oscars Matinée Movie Series continues on Wednesday, March 8 with Hacksaw Ridge (R), followed on March 15: Moonlight (R); March 22: Lion (PG-13); March 29: Manchester by the Sea (R); April 5: Hell or High Water (R); April 12: Fences (PG-13); April 19: Hidden Figures (PG); and April 26: La La Land (PG-13). See you at the movies!
