"Sight-Lines" Art Exhibit Reception at Art/Place Gallery, April 23

Fairfield, CT -- The public is invited to a reception at Art/Place Gallery for “Sight-Lines”, the paintings of Art/Place members, Susanne Andover Keany and Mollie Keller, on April 23 from 2-5 pm. This is the duo's third show together in the Gallery. The show runs from April 13 to May 14. The Gallery is at 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield. For more info, see www.artplacegallery.org or call 203-292-8328.

“Sight-Lines,” defined by Webster dictionary as “a hypothetical line from someone’s eyes to what is seen”, will be explored in the paintings and drawings featured in the show.

Susanne Andover Keany lives and works in Weston, Connecticut. She paints in series based on themes from nature.  Her current work is inspired by a trip she took to Cape Cod, last summer which she found nostalgic because it was the locale of her honeymoon and subsequent vacations.  She became intrigued with her relationship to the landscape and this work explores the tension between the remembered and the present.  Her paintings are also an attempt to convey the mystery of the familiar.

Keany has exhibited widely in Connecticut, New York and Florida.  She is a graduate of Barnard College and the School of Visual Arts at Purchase. She studied at the NY Studio school and with the late Robert Reed of Yale.  Her work is in both private and corporate collections. More of her work can be seen at artplacegallery.org.

Mollie Keller is Trumbull-based. Her landscapes are portraits of all the places in her life, both real and imaginary ones, as they are and as they seem to her as she looks out to whatever horizon beckons, in the park down the street, at the shore, along a highway exit ramp, or behind her eyelids.

Keller came to painting after a career as a historian/writer/archivist. She finds it a great privilege to be expressing herself in color and image after years of fine-tuning ideas with very precise words.  Her work is in many private collections and may be viewed online at molliekeller.com.
