SM&NC's Food & Wine Party Coming Up June 2

Stamford, CT – The Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s 20th Annual Food & Wine Celebration will take place on Friday, June 2, 2017. Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased online at stamfordmuseum.org. Early Bird tickets are available for $150 per person through May 5; $175 per person after May 5.

Guests will enjoy sampling a wide variety of delicious food and tasting top-flight wines and beverages in the SM&NC’s elegant Bendel Mansion. Along with dancing, door prizes, raffles, and gift bags, attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase their favorite wines for their own cellar or next party. All proceeds from the event will benefit the SM&NC’s mission to bring the wonders of art, education, and the natural world to local schoolchildren and families.

The SM&NC’s silent auction will feature an array of gotta-have items and experiences. Here’s one to check off your bucket list: Set sail with nine friends on a 3-hour off-shore adventure aboard an actual America’s Cup yacht, courtesy of Greenwich-based 12m Yacht Development Foundation.

The 12mYDF yachts, which campaigned for the  America's Cup in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1980, and Perth, Australia, in 1987, are 66-69 feet long, 13 feet in beam, and carry over 5,000 square feet of sail – the size of an eight-story building. Your l2m sail, from YDF’s seasonal home port adjacent to the Delamar Hotel dock on Greenwich harbor, includes optional crewing and helmsmanship such as grinding the winches, trimming the sails, and even skippering the yacht.

Bidders looking for some dry-land R&R can also vie for a long weekend at a luxurious vacation home on Martha's Vineyard for six adults, seasonal cooking classes from Culinary Works, and a gourmet dinner for eight in your own home, prepared by the chefs at Columbus Park.

And we’ve got just the ticket(s) for you, whether it’s watching the U.S. Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium, the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, or Pat Benatar at the Ridgefield Playhouse.

“This is the SM&NC’s signature fundraising event – as always, it will be a fun and casual ‘dinner on foot’ for more than 300 friends and supporters,” says Melissa H. Mulrooney, Executive Director & CEO. “After all, we have the perfect venue for celebrating in style – our home being the onetime summer estate of department store founder Henri Bendel. It will be a memorable evening – a party with a purpose.”

That purpose is to help the Stamford nonprofit deliver its education programs to over 44,000 students across 144 area schools and to provide on-site nature-based programming, art exhibitions, and festivals to more than 200,000 visitors annually.

The 20th Annual Food & Wine Celebration on Friday, June 2, begins at 7 pm with tastings of fine wine, artisanal cocktails, and hand-crafted beers from 15 local and national suppliers, sponsored by BevMax.

Among the local caterers and restaurants providing samplings of delectable “bites” are A&S Fine Foods, Best in Gourmet, California Pizza Kitchen, David’s Soundview Catering, Festivities, LaRocca’s Country Market, Palmer’s, Planet Barbecue Catering, Savory Gourmet, Seasonal Catering, Some Things Fishy, Susan Kane, and Sweet Creations.

As the auction and tastings wind down, the action on the dance floor will heat up, with our favorite DJ from Scratch Entertainment providing a soundtrack of new and classic dance beats. After-dinner drinks, coffee, and dessert will help our dancers and loungers finish the night on an up note before heading for home, with gift bags in tow.

The SM&NC is grateful for the sponsorship of the 20th Annual Food & Wine Celebration by Day Pitney LLP, Eastern Land Management, Ernst & Young, F.D. Rich Company, First County Bank, Barbara B.
