Summer Music Series at Pequot Library

Southport, CT – Celebrate over 120 years of music at Pequot Library with the upcoming Summer Music Series which, includes jazz, classical, folk, and ragtime performances. All proceeds from ticketed concerts support Pequot Library’s free music events. Purchase a season ticket and enjoy all six concerts at a discounted rate.

Free events include the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestra Great Lawn Concert on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy selections performed by the GBYO String Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble. Then, on Tuesday, August 29 at 6pm, the Library will present the Hungrytown Folk Concert on the Great Lawn. Pack a picnic, bring a lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy one of the last evenings of the summer on Pequot’s spacious Great Lawn. After more than a decade of worldwide touring and three album releases, Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson, otherwise known as the folk duo Hungrytown, have earned a reputation for the quality and authenticity of their songwriting.

This summer’s ticketed events support free music programs. Upcoming is jazz pianist Rex Cadwallader on Sunday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of jazz with this Emmy Award-winning composer whose compositions for big band, small jazz ensemble, and vocal jazz ensemble have been recorded worldwide, from Tokyo and Great Britain to universities and colleges across the United States. Then, on Thursday, August 24 at 7pm, classical pianist Alex Beyer will perform. Beyer has received warm praise for his performances nationally and internationally. In 2016, he was the bronze medalist in the Queen Elisabeth Competition, and was named one of five finalists of the American Pianists Association Awards.

Ticket prices are $20/ea for Adults; $10/ea for Students; $50/ea for Adult Summer Series; and $25/ea for Student Summer Series.
