Many of CT’s Finest Runners at Faxon Law Fairfield Road Races This Weekend

Fairfield, CT:  Two of Connecticut top distance runners, West Hartford’s Everrett Hackett and Wethersfield’s William Sanders, head this weekend’s Faxon Law Fairfield Road Races.  Hacket has a 1:04 half marathon best and recently won the Cheshire Half marathon and the CT 5K State Championship in New Haven.  Sanders, who holds a 1:06 half marathon best,  is competing in both the 5K on Saturday and the ½ marathon on Sunday.  Kenya’s Eric Chirchir (2010 race winner) and Ethiopia’s Abu Kebede (1:04 half marathon best) will also challenge for the top spot.  Manchester’s John Busque, who recently finished 3^rd in last weekend’s Branford Road Race should also finish near the top.

The women’s field is led by Ethiopia’s Bose Gemda Assefa.  She holds a half marathon best of  1:12.  Assefa will be challenged by New Hartford’s Annmarie Tuxbury and New Jersey’s Kaitlyn Johnson.  Tuxbury recently won the CT 5K State Championship and Johnson has a ½ marathon best of 1:20.

The races take place at Jennings Beach in Fairfield. Both days offer beach parties following the races! All runners are invited to enjoy live music, vendors, loaves of bread, pizza, fruit, refreshments & awards ceremony. Participants are encouraged to register early!
