NYU Prof Rochelle Almeida Presents "A Jaunt With Jane" at Pequot Library, Aug. 22

Southport, CT – On Tuesday, August 22, from 7-8pm, well-published travel writer and New York University professor Rochelle Almeida presents A Jaunt with Jane, an audio-visual lecture reviewing the life and times of Jane Austen and the places that influenced her work. Using personal travel photographs and her own blog posts, Dr. Almeida will lead the audience on an adventure throughout England, highlighting Bath, Oxford, Hampshire, Derbyshire, Lyme Regis, and Winchester. The program is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. This program is offered in conjunction with Jane Austen: Insights and Influences, the Special Collections exhibitionon view at Pequot Library through August 27, 2017.

Born in Bombay, India, professor Almeida taught at Jai Hind College in Mumbai and in the graduate English Department at the University of Bombay before joining the Liberal Studies Program at NYU in 1994. She has also taught at Exeter College, the University of Oxford, and in the Global Liberal Studies Program at NYU-London. She was awarded the Provost's Global Research Initiatives Fellowship at NYU-London in Fall 2016. An active scholar, her list of publications includes three monographs and two edited anthologies. A sixth book, an anthology of essays presented at a conference on Goa at Yale University, will be published in Fall 2017.
