NEW CANAAN, CT, August 12, 2017 – The Carriage Barn Arts Center in Waveny Park will kick of the 2017/18 season with the opening of the 40th Annual Member Show on Sunday, September 10 from 3-5pm. The annual member show celebrates the range, interests, and talents of artist members working across all subjects, styles, and media in art. Membership is open to artists or anyone with an interest in artistic activities of the New Canaan Society for the Arts. Members can submit work at www.CarriageBarn.org through August 18. This year the Carriage Barn has partnered with New Canaan’s Sorelle Gallery, 1-2 artists will be awarded “best in show” and invited to have a join or solo exhibit at Sorelle next summer.
Complimentary Coffee & Conversation with the Artists
The exhibit is open Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-3pm and Sunday from 1-5pm through October 8. Visit the Carriage Barn and see the exhibit on Saturday, September 16 between 10am – Noon and enjoy complimentary coffee and the chance to meet several of the artists and learn more about their work.
Workshops For All Levels
The Carriage Barn will also be facilitating a number of art workshops for all levels this fall for anyone looking to explore creative mediums. Expert instructors will teach a Plein Air painting workshop September 11 & 12; a half-day collage workshop the morning of September 19; and an iPhone Photography Workshop on September 25 & 27th. More sessions will be announced soon, including modern calligraphy and printmaking. Members receive discounted rates and all details can be found online at CarriageBarn.org.

We are located in Waveny Park in a 19th century stone barn, refurbished as a gallery and performing arts venue.
