Hosted by the Fairfield Clean Energy Task Force (CETF) together with the Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition and the Southwestern Connecticut Clean Cities Coalition, the third annual Electric Vehicle (EV) Showcase will be held on Saturday, September 9, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the small commuter parking lot at 140 Mill Plain Road (across from the Eunice Postol Recreation Center and the Sportsplex). The event will bring together local car dealers, electric car club members, many local EV owners and the public to view the newest EV models and learn about the current state of the technology.
National Drive Electric Week, September 9-17 (www.driveelectricweek.org), is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more.
Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau said, “Supporting vehicle owners who have decided to ‘go electric’ is a vital part of our Town’s commitment to making Fairfield a more environmentally sustainable community. We’re proving that commitment by offering the highest density of electric vehicle charging stations in southwestern Connecticut with more installations planned.”
“Electric cars are economical, good for the environment, fun to drive, and more affordable than ever,” said Scott Thompson, CETF chairman. “We’re expecting a solid turnout of local EV owners and dealers who will offer showcase visitors the chance to take a test drive or ride on local streets and experience first-hand the ease and comfort of EVs. If you’re interested in ‘plugging in’ to EV transportation, you’ll find no better opportunity to sample the exciting future of EVs and see if one is right for you.”
Admission to the showcase is free. The MOC Eatery Gastro - Pub on Wheels food truck will be on site and complimentary water will be provided by Aquarion.
