CT Audubon Fall Bird Seed Sale: Sat. Oct. 14

Fairfield, CT - The CT Audubon Society Center at Fairfield encourages you to Prepare Your Backyard to Help Our Feathered Friends through its Fall Bird Seed Sale, on Saturday, October 14, at their 2325 Burr Street, Fairfield, CT property. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Backyard feeding contributes to the health and survival of birds during the cold winter months. Start stocking up for the season with premium bird seed that is 20% off at The Connecticut Audubon Society’s annual fall bird seed sale. Place a pre-order by Wednesday, Oct. 4 to ensure the variety and quantity you prefer will be available for pick-up on the day of the sale, Saturday Oct. 14. All purchases will support The Connecticut Audubon Society’s conservation and education programs

So, what to put on the menu? Most of the birds that stay in Connecticut for winter are seed eaters. Seed and suet provide the calories and nourishment they need to stay warm and healthy as the cold weather approaches and food becomes scarce. Good choices for food include black oil sunflower seed, safflower seeds (squirrels and grackles don’t like it), Nyjer and suet—a great energy source.

The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Fairfield Nature Store offers a wide selection of bird seed for attracting the greatest variety of birds to your feeder. Knowledgeable staff are always available to offer guidance on seed choice and feeder selection, and to answer general bird-feeding questions.

The Nature Store, located in Fairfield at 2325 Burr Street, is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Pre-order forms for the sale are available at the Nature Store, or on the Center at Fairfield’s website:www.ctaudubon.org/center-at-fairfield.

To learn even more about local bird feeding, sign up for the CT Audubon's free Saturday morning Backyard Birding program on Nov. 11 or Dec. 9, 10 to 11 a.m. Learn more about these and other classes and events at www.ctaudubon.org/center-at-fairfield, or call the Center at Fairfield, (203) 259-6305, ext. 109.
