WALLINGFORD, CONN. – Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau will host community conversations in New Haven and Westport on October 24, inviting the public to learn more about the challenge of hunger in Connecticut and ways to break the cycle of hunger in the state. The conversations are sponsored by Bank of America.The New Haven conversation is set for Tuesday, October 24, from 12:00PM to 1:00PM, at the United Way of Greater New Haven. The Westport conversation is set for Tuesday, October 24, from 5:00PM to 6:00PM at the Westport Library. The events are free of charge. “These conversations are an opportunity for members of the public to get a better sense of the problem we face in Connecticut, to understand what the Connecticut Food Bank is doing to address hunger and to discuss how they can help,” Beaudreau said.
According to research by Feeding America, more than 400,000 people in Connecticut struggle with hunger. More than 127,000 of those who are hungry are children. “We should be able to address this problem,” Beaudreau said. “There are public and private resources that we can bring to the table in this fight.”
Beaudreau said he hopes to hear from community members interested in helping fight hunger as well as from people who have experienced or are experiencing hunger. “The solution to hunger lies in bringing together the ideas and energy of many different people and organizations,” Beaudreau said. “We hope to share some of those ideas at these conversations.”
