CT Dance School Presents "The Nutcracker"

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut, (November 21, 2017) – The annual Nutcracker
tradition continues at Connecticut Dance School with two performances of
the Nutcracker, featuring dancers from Fairfield and beyond. The
performances will be held at the Quick Center for the Arts on Fairfield
University campus Sunday, December 10th at 1 and 4 p.m. In keeping with a
heart for outreach, there will also be a benefit concert for Bridgeport
students on Friday, December 8th.

The Nutcracker story includes memorable characters for audiences of all
ages. According to the School’s artistic director, Alan Woodard, the
production of the Nutcracker is unique among Fairfield County productions.
Woodward explains, “This is a performance opportunity for our students.
The ballet’s original choreography, elegant costumes, classic sets and
professional lighting and sound make it a thoroughly delightful
experience.”

CDS students are cast in all roles except for the Sugar Plum Fairy’s
Cavalier which will be danced by James Shee, former dancer with National
Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet. Woodward states, “There are
parents and children in the party scene, mice and soldiers in the battle
scene, angels to introduce Act 2 and Chinese, Russian and Arabian dancers
who entertain Clara and her prince in the Land of Sweets. It is a true
example of ballet as theater and is a perfect way for the entire family to
enjoy a truly professional production of the Nutcracker right here in
Fairfield County.”
