Flinders Lane Stamford to Mark Australia Day on Jan. 26

STAMFORD, CT - Hey mates, just because you aren’t actually in Australia, or even Australian yourself, doesn’t mean you need to miss out on this true-blue Australia Day celebration. On Friday, January 26th, Flinders Lane in Stamford will be celebrating the official National Day of Australia from 5:00pm until closing. Officially, Australia Day marks the anniversary of the First Fleet of British settlers arriving in Port Jackson Harbour, Sydney, in 1788. Unofficially, though, it’s an excuse to party with a gusto that few other nations can match (think Fourth of July, Cinco de Mayo, and Halloween combined).

Located in the heart of downtown Stamford, Flinders Lane serves up modern Australian cuisine peppered with Southeast Asian, British, and Mediterranean influences. To celebrate Australia Day and show off their Australian pride, Flinders Lane will have some Aussie faves on the menu, a great selection of Australian wines and beer, and Triple J’s hottest 100 best tracks will kick-start the celebration. In addition the regular a la carte menu, the Australia Day menu includes:

SAVORY

Sausage Rolls

BBQ Prawns

Bangers & Mash

Meat Pie

Fish & Chips

Lobster Mornay

Australian Lamb Chops Roasted Veggies, Mint Jelly

Kangaroo Burger

SWEET

Lamington with Cream & Jam

Pavlova with Passion Fruit & Berries

Grandma Stewart’s Sticky Date Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce

Whether you’re an Australian expat or a lover of all-things-Australian, Flinders Lane welcomes you to join the celebration. There is no coverage charge to join the festivities. The Australia Day celebration begins at 5:00pm during Happy Hour and runs until closing. For more information, please visit flinderslane-nyc.com or call the restaurant at (203) 323-3137.

ABOUT FLINDERS LANE

After working together at Public and Double Crown in NYC and discovering they had grown up in neighboring suburbs in Melbourne, Chris McPherson and Chef Chris Rendell oftentimes reminisced about the Australian dishes and cocktails they missed from home and wanted to introduce it to the States. McPherson’s experience as a front-of-house manager and beverage director combined with Rendell’s culinary background was the impetus of Flinders Lane. Named after the downtown Melbourne neighborhood famous for charming hidden laneways dotted with innovative restaurants, bars, cafes boutiques and art galleries, Flinders Lane serves up modern Australian cuisine peppered with Southeast Asian, British, and Mediterranean influences with locations in New York City and Stamford.
