Fairfield Woods Branch Library's Seed-to-Seed Program Ready for Spring

Fairfield Woods Branch Library was the first library in New England to offer a seed library and it is now entering its 4th season of offering Vegetable, Herb, and Flower seeds for people to "check out".

The seed-to-seed library concept came about when Deputy Town Librarian Nancy Coriaty had a conversation with Analiese Paik, creator of the Fairfield Green Food Guide, about gardening and seed saving. Ms. Coriaty began to think about offering seeds for patrons to check out with the very aspiring goal of having all families in Fairfield plant some type of garden at their homes.

"The seed library seemed like a natural fit for our Branch," said Ms. Coriaty. "We had been offering gardening, environmental, and sustainable programs for the last several years and they were growing in popularity, adding seeds to the mix brought in new opportunities for ideas, information and learning."

Have you started your garden yet? Visit the seed-to-seed library and check out seeds.
