Tai Chi Classes Back at Pequot Library Starting Sept. 26

Southport, CT – By requests from the public, Pequot Library announces a six-week Tai Chi & Qigong Class to be held on Pequot Library’s Great Lawn, starting Friday, September 26, from 9:30am – 10:30am. The many participants who participated in the last series want more harmony and balance in their lives. The classes will be held each Friday at 9:30am, for 6 weeks. September 26; October 3; October 10; October 17; October 24; and October 31. The location is on The Great Lawn or in the Auditorium if inclement weather.

Participants are asked to wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, plus running shoes (or bare feet if you prefer), water bottle, no yoga mat required. The cost is $10 per session or $50 for complete series. Go to www.pequotlibrary.org to register.

Each class is comprised of classic Tai Chi & Qigong warm-ups, gentle and dynamic flowing movements, and guided meditations. Practicing them will help increase flexibility, strength, and the immune system; quiet the mind and reduce stress. Connect with nature on Pequot Library's expansive Great Lawn.

Trained instructor, Julie Moffat, is certified through the Institute of Integral Qigong & Tai Chi. She has studied a variety of Qigong styles and is a member of the National Qigong Association. Moffat says, “All my classes encourage the philosophy of not pushing the body but instead treating the body and mind with gentleness and compassion. No prior experience is required and all ages are welcome. Tea will be served after.”
