KEYS Gets $4K Grant For Bridgeport Orchestra Program

KEYS (Kids Empowered by Your Support, Inc) announced that it has received a grant of $4,000 from The Amalia and Nicola Giuliani Foundation for Religion and the Arts to support the KEYS Orchestra program for Spring 2015.

KEYS provides free one-to-one and group music lessons to inner-city children in Bridgeport, CT.  KEYS is now in its third season with the “KEYS Orchestra” on Saturday mornings at the Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport.  It is an exciting opportunity for the kids to experience the joy of playing in an orchestra for the first time.  The orchestra is run in partnership with Dr. Andrew Smith, Director of the Suzuki Music Schools of Westport and Orange, a prize-winning violinist with vast international experience. Dr. Smith is supported by two professional orchestra coaches, and several high school volunteers with musical backgrounds, giving the KEYS students great exposure and hands-on coaching. The non-audition orchestra is open to strings students in Bridgeport.

Funding from grantors such as The Amalia and Nicola Giuliani Foundation for Religion and the Arts allows the orchestra experience to be provided at no cost to the student participants. KEYS is grateful to the Guiliani Foundation for their continued support of the KEYS music programs in Bridgeport, CT.
