R.I.P. Edward Patrick O'Connor, 79, Fairfield, CT

Edward Patrick O'Connor, 79, of Fairfield, Ct, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Carlton Convalescent Home.

He was born in the Bronx, New York to Kathleen and Joseph O'Connor. Ed lived most of his life in Oakland, NJ and Fairfield, CT. "Easy" Ed loved the town of Fairfield and was an active member of the community. He was a daily communicant at St. Pius X Parish and was often seen walking with his rosary along the Mill River. A proud Irishman and avid singer, he was co-founder of the Gaelic American Glee Club. In 2013, Ed was Grand Marshall of the Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick's Day Parade. He was the founder and self-proclaimed president-for-life of the Fairfield Garden Club. Ed also liked to remind everyone that he was a card-holding member of BJ's wholesale club.

Ed was a proud graduate of Fordham University and always donned his maroon Fordham cap while cheering on the Rams. He was a loyal supporter of the Jesuit tradition and was a long-standing member of the President's Circle of Fairfield University. Ed cherished his wife, Peggy, of fifty- five years.

He was extremely loving and proud of his four children and extended family, Deirdre and Steve Bennett, Fairfield, Ct; Maura and Adam Yanulis, Duxbury, Ma; Dan and Susan O'Connor, Fairfield, CT; and Sheila and Ken O'Donnell, Fairfield, Ct. Ed's spirit and memory will live on in the lessons and joy he brought to his grandchildren, Caroline, Brian, Jake, Ian, Caitlin, Michaela, Connor and Declan.

A mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Fairfield, CT. The family invites guests to attend a celebration of Ed's life at the Gaelic American Club, following the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fr.
