Longtime Fairfielder Jean Everett Passes, Age 76

Fairfield, CT - Jean Everett, a longtime resident of Fairfield, CT, died Tuesday, February 22, 2017 at Norwalk Hospital.

Born in 1940 in Hatfield, Herts, England, Jean moved to South Africa as a seven-year-old when her father took up a position in Johannesburg with the opening of a new division of the English electronics company with whom he worked. Jean grew up in that sunny environment developing great skills in surface art which she loved and pursued for a lifetime. When she was 19, the family moved back to England and Jean worked first for a major design studio in London and then took up the position of Exhibition Designer for a large company in Essex.

She married in 1963 and in 1974 moved to Boston, MA with her husband and her two young boys and then, in 1979, to Fairfield. Producing fine and commercial art, she was proficient in all media - pencil, charcoal, conté, gouache, watercolors and oils. Working on commissions for portraiture, designs and prototyping for collectables and paper products, she was able to finance her two sons through their studies in prestigious colleges. In addition to living on three continents, she enjoyed traveling with her husband.

A natural psychologist and selfless personality, she charmed all she met and enjoyed deep and enduring friendships over the decades.

She is survived by her husband John, sister Christine, son Christopher and Christopher's two daughters Elena and Brenna.

Jean will be cremated and buried at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield, in a private ceremony.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
