Fairfielder Mary Sullivan Passes, Age 74

Fairfield, CT -- Mary Sandra Sullivan (Sandy), age 74, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Vitas Hospice Unit in St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury surrounded by her family and dear friends.

Born in Shigawake, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Leonard and Cecelia Sullivan, she had been a Fairfield area resident for over 30 years. Sandra worked for many years for Equitable Insurance. She then worked in banquet services at the Norwalk Inn and the Patterson Club, and most recently for the United States Census Bureau. She was an active long-time member of the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield, and a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Mae King Division, Bridgeport where she was an active participant in the Hibernian National Convention. Sandra loved searching for, and collecting, antiques of all kinds.

Survivors include two brothers, Joseph Henry Sullivan and his wife Stella of Shigawake, Quebec, Canada, Joseph Bryan Sullivan and his wife Lynn of Oakville, Ontario, Canada; nieces and nephews, Trevor, Heather, Kathleen, Patrick, Leah and Neil; and her long-time dear friend and devoted companion, Michael Devaney of Fairfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family Sunday from 3-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 38 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT 06854.
