Kill-a-Watt Meter on Display at Fairfield Libraries

Fairfield, Conn. - Want to save on your electric bill? Check out a Kill-a-Watt meter at the Library to figure out what appliances in your home are using the most electricity. As part of the Energize Connecticut initiative, United Illuminating, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc., is lending Kill-a-Watt meters for free through local libraries. These devices are easy to use, just plug in the meter and connect the appliance.  Use the appliance as you normally would, and at the end of the day you can see how many kilowatts were used.  From this daily cost you can calculate how much electricity is used per week, per month and even per year.  All you need is your Library card to check out a meter and a detailed instruction guide.  Meters are available at the Circulation Desks at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road and the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.
