Fairfield County Children's Choir Recognizes Students

The Fairfield County Children's Choir recently named several Choral Scholars, an award given to high school seniors for their commitment to choral music, scholarship, and dedication and participation in the choir. All of the recipients have been choir members for the past nine years, from 4th through 12th grades and most will be continuing to sing in their college choirs and musical ensembles.

Choral scholars from Fairfield are: Lilly Boyd, who will be attending Hope College in the fall; Sofia Bramante, who will attend the University of Delaware; Allison Nascimento, Quinnipiac University; Katie Schreiner, the University of Kentucky; Sarah von Euler, who will be attending Davidson College; and Sofie Wall, who will be a freshman at the University of Connecticut.

Other choir members and graduating seniors from Fairfield are: Melissa DiMaio, attending Hunter College; Cacey Longley who will be a freshman at Roger Williams University; Erin McCurley, Marist College; Madeleine Tommins, Fordham University and Amanda Violone, the University of Connecticut. Celina Hibbert from Bridgeport will be attending Housatonic Community College and Sarah McKool from Ridgefield will be attending Furman University.

The choir also presented its High Notes award to Marjorie Duzy, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Fairfield County Children's Choir, and a retired Holland Hill School teacher. The High Notes award is an annual award recognizing an individual or group that has made a significant impact as an advocate of the arts in Fairfield County and has made a significant contribution as a musician or musical educator in Connecticut.

The Fairfield County Children's Choir, celebrating its 20th season, is an internationally recognized choral program for children in grades 4 through 12, and is known for intensive instruction in vocal and choral technique. The choir has performed in numerous national and international choir festivals. The four choirs of the FCCC are comprised of over 300 students hailing from nearly every town in Fairfield County.
