This 1974 satirical spoof of Westerns is an indelible American classic. Set in 1874 in the Old West, Cleavon Little stars as Bart, the unexpectedly anointed first black sheriff of a frontier town scheduled for demolition by an encroaching railroad. He is aided by co-star Gene Wilder, in the saddle and in top form as the drunken gunslinger Jim, aka “The Waco Kid.” The two are pitted amidst a cast of oddball, manic and hilarious townfolk characters, including the terrific supporting cast members Harvey Korman, Slim Pickens, Madeline Kahn, Dom Deluise, and writer-director Mel Brooks. BLAZING SADDLES was nominated for 3 Academy Awards, won the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Written Directly For The Screen, and is ranked #6 on the AFI’s 100 Years…100 Laughs List. Simply put it is one of the most memorable and beloved American comedies of all time!
