Bijou to Hold Benefit Bash, Oct. 26

The Bijou Theatre, at 275 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport is holding a season-kickoff open house event on Sunday, October 26th at 6pm. The big bash will feature dozens of performers from the upcoming main stage series, children’s series, live music series, and much more.  Admission is free, but a $15 suggested donation will go a long way to benefit the season of live theatre that began with “Murder Ballad” in September and runs through to June.

The one-night-only event will introduce attendees to the various offerings at the Theatre, including live theatre, film, and live music.  There will be a rock band playing as patrons enjoy a drink or dinner, or peruse the various booths to learn more about programming at The Bijou.  The evening will also feature exclusive short animations from children’s book author Jim DeVivo, along side clips of successful past productions.  Theatre lovers will have the opportunity to watch previews of upcoming shows, including live performances from “Assassins,” “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead,” and “The Witch, The Broom and The Cauldron.”

The Bijou Benefit Bash will help raise funds for new and additional lavaliere microphones, which are necessary to the upcoming productions of main stage and children’s theatre.  The upcoming shows that will be directly benefited by all proceeds include “Assassins” in November, “Santa’s Crazier Christmas” in December, “12 Angry Men” in January, “Super Zeros” and “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” in April, and “Hamlet” and “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” in May.
