Tix on Sale for WAC's Annual Gala

Tickets for the Westport Arts Center’s annual gala, themed "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil", went on sale March 16. Tickets can be purchased on the Arts Center's website: http://www.westportartscenter.org or by phone (203/222-7070). The event honors Lance Lundberg, Chairman of the Westport Arts Center, for his contributions to the arts. Lundberg also serves as the Silver Hill Hospital Development Chair and Chairman of Verde Energy USA, and is Past Chairman of World Presidents Organization (WPO) - Fairchester Chapter.

The event will be held Saturday, May 16 from 5:30-11pm at Vespa and the National Hall Campus in Westport. The gala will return to Westport for the first time since 2011, after being hosted in Norwalk for the past 3 years.

The venue will be transformed to reflect the magic and mystery of southern hospitality. From canapés and mint juleps, jazz and zydeco, to gardens and sculptures, halos and horns... it will be a night that will tip the scales. The seductive decor will feature collaborative installations between local landscape designers and artists.

The event is co-chaired by Kelley Schutte, Caroline Owens Crawford and Alex Smith, who have all made significant contributions to our local community.

Kelley Schutte has been supporting the Westport Arts Center for over six years and was a co-committee head for The Art Noir Ball décor team. She is a local commercial and residential interior designer and a fine artist who sells locally.

Caroline Owens Crawford is an American Paintings expert and a partner of Crawford Designs. She lives and works in Fairfield and serves on several charitable boards.

Alex Smith is a native of Southport, CT and has been involved in many aspects of Fairfield County’s business and charitable organizations. She is an avid supporter of the arts and an artist herself. She has extensive experience managing retail stores in Westport for the past 25 years: Simon Pearce, Sigrid Olsen and Dovecote. She is currently the General Manager of the Flagship Store of Lillian August.

"In a time where many art programs are being cut, the Westport Arts Center is not only a refuge that supports all kinds of art for everyone, it reaches out and extends its programs to where it is needed," stated Schutte. "'Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil' welcomes our community to become an angel to the Arts Center in support. On May 16th, our gala will provide some devilish fun!!"

Local companies are involved in sponsoring the “Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil” event as well. Corporate and Foundation sponsors include Spreadmusicnow.org, Bernstein Global Wealth Management, Cohen and Wolf, P.C., EC Infosystems, Inc., Fairfield County Bank, Felton Properties, Inc., Morgan Stanley – The Hofstetter Baron Group, Pro Group Holdings, Sontag Advisory, The Betty R. & Ralph Sheffer Foundation and Verde Energy USA Inc.

Importantly, the gala helps fund programs right here in our community. The Westport Arts Center is committed to outreach programs for underserved schools in Bridgeport and Norwalk, and therapeutic arts experiences for unique populations such as the elderly, cancer patients, military veterans who are homeless, and children with special needs. In the Westport area, the Arts Center presents great Chamber music and Jazz programs, and hosts significant artists on exhibition in its gallery.

With a theme of “Good & Evil,” Westport residents shouldn’t be surprised to see angels and devils spontaneously appear in Westport on Sunday, March 16…Which path will you choose? Good or evil?
