Westport, CT - Enjoy an afternoon with the entertaining and energetic talent of the Rhythm Future Quartet performing a special Gypsy jazz concert at the Westport Arts Center on Sunday, October 11 at 3 p.m.
When four young jazz virtuosos decided to join forces, the Rhythm Future Quartet was born. Named after a Django Reinhardt tune, the Rhythm Future Quartet performs dynamic and fiery arrangements of Gypsy jazz standards and original compositions that draw from rhythms heard around the world.
The Westport Arts Center venue provides a unique opportunity to see the Quartet in an intimate, up-close-and-personal setting while surrounded by the Arts Center's stunning current exhibition, The Print Show: Celebrating 45 Years of Printmaking with Pace Prints. Concert-goers will also enjoy beautiful views of the Saugatuck River.
The Westport Arts Center Jazz series is curated with the expertise of accomplished Jazz educator and musician Brian Torff, who also serves as the Arts Center's Artistic Director for Jazz. "Rhythm Future Quartet is an example of extremely talented young musicians who have embraced the Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappeli style as a springboard for their own creativity. Their exciting drive and technique add a youthful energy to this music and I know audiences will catch that spark,” stated Torff.
“Bands enjoy playing at the Westport Arts Center because it provides an intimate atmosphere and they have an audience right in front of them – the atmosphere also brings in great listeners which makes the performance even better,” he added.
The Rhythm Future Quartet concert is the first in the Westport Arts Center’s diverse Jazz music season schedule featuring both internationally renowned talent and local rising performers. Season ticket holders enjoy significant benefits.
