“Meet the Artist” Event at Norwalk Historical Society Museum, Feb. 27

Norwalk, CT - The Norwalk Historical Society will be kicking off a new monthly program, titled Meet the Artist, which will feature local artists and artisans from the Society's gift shop, on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

This free event will take place at the new Norwalk Historical Society Museum, located at 141 East Avenue in Norwalk, CT. Parking is available at Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue. The Museum is located next to the Norwalk Health Department, in the red brick house with blue double front doors.

Leslie Rottner of Abbey Road Designs (www.abbeyroaddesigns.com) will be the featured artist at this first event and will be the historical society's gift shop Artist of the Month for March. Visitors will get to meet Ms. Rottner, a photographer and mixed media artist, watch a live demonstration of her craft and learn about the history, process and inspiration behind Abbey Road Designs. A large collection of Ms. Rottner's work will be available for purchase in the gift shop. Light refreshments will be served.

As a photographer and mixed media artist, Ms. Rottner easily moves back and forth from the actual to the abstract. She curates vintage items to photograph and uses them in her art work, and offers her prints and original works for sale in three Abbey Road Designs Etsy shops. Ms. Rottner also photographs products and studio spaces for independent artisans, crafters and shop owners helping them to tell their story. She has been an artisan for as long as she can remember. Nothing gives her greater joy than sharing what she does with others. For her, the creative process is calming and fulfilling and she can't imagine living without that.  Come experience Ms. Rottner's creative process!

The Meet the Artist series will continue with local clothing designer and seamstress Kiki Verveniotis of Kiki & Pooky Ltd. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 and local photographers Michael Heintz and Nan Wasson of Torn Edges on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
