Fairfield's World Champion Taekwondo Team Takes Gold

Fairfield, CT -- Students at World Champion Taekwondo, located in the Sportsplex complex at 85 Mill Plain Road, Fairfield, just won golds at the American Taekwondo United's National Tournament at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Next, they are headed to New York's Times Square to do a Demo Team performance on June 24th. They will also compete again this year at the Team USA Taekwondo National Championships, which is scheduled to be held in July in Richmond, Virginia. Approximately 5,000 participants from around the country will be competing. Also recently, two of the students had the opportunity to train with the MIT Taekwondo Team coach and his students.

"Though not a school team, they are champion athletes who train rigorously and strive to achieve their goals to be winners in a not so well recognized sport," said parent Preeti Butani about the group.

Their star coach Master KJ, is headed to the Pan am Qualifying tournament leading up to the Olympics in Rio this year.
