Pop Up Show at WAC, Jan. 12, 6pm

Westport, CT -- Pop into a special winter Pop Up show by the Westport Artists Collective on Thursday, January 12 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.  The Pop Up is free and open to the public, and will be on view through Saturday, January 14.

The Westport Artists Collective Pop Up shows are a reflection of Westport’s creative heritage and are wildly popular events.  The Arts Center gives over its space to the Collective three times each year, allowing local artists to showcase their work, and the entire community to show its support.

The Pop Up includes a diverse range of works by fifteen artists in the Artists Collective, selected by the participants in the Fall 2016 Pop Up event.

Selected artists include Binnie Birstein, Alanna Fagan, Hernan Garcia, Ira Ginsburg, Mary Harold, Lucy M. Krupenye, Phyllis Lee, Mary Ann Neilson, Steve Parton, Lisa Silberman, Bronislava Slagle, Malu Tan, Karen Vogel, Cindy Wagner, and Cynthia Whalen.

Eric Chiang of the Westport Artists Collective stated, “We invite the entire community to join us to celebrate creativity. With all proceeds going to the artists, the show is a wonderful opportunity to support the arts on a local level.”

On Friday, January 13th from 10 – 11:30 a.m. the Collective will also host an Artist Talk at the Westport Arts Center.  Attendees will gain a behind-the-scenes perspective from several of the Pop Up artists, who will discuss their influences, techniques and works.

The Westport Artists Collective has quickly grown to include 150 members who come together monthly to discuss and develop dynamic art experiences.  It serves as a base for Westport Arts Center’s artist members, bringing exciting Pop Up shows and other unique art events to the Arts Center and Fairfield County.  There is a now waiting list to join the Collective, a testament to the burgeoning number of artists in our community.

Current leadership of the Westport Artists Collective includes Nina Bentley, Miggs Burroughs, Eric Chiang, Jahmane West and Tammy Winser.
