Southport, CT – Pequot Library is pleased to welcome Tracy Ann Steneken, MA as full-time Public Programs Manager. Ms. Steneken is responsible for managing the Library’s robust line-up of educational offerings for all ages, especially college/university students, families, and youth. In particular she will expand programming and services developed in conjunction with Pequot Library’s renowned Special Collections of rare books, manuscripts and archives as well as maintain the Library’s growing list of community partnerships.
Working closely with the Library’s School Outreach Coordinator and Children’s Librarian, Steneken is responsible for expanding services for area educators and school-aged visitors, especially middle and high school students and for assisting with longstanding community traditions, including the Fourth of July Bike Parade, Holiday Caroling Party and Open House, Halloween Pet Parade, Valentine’s Day Candymaking, and Easter Egg Roll.
Steneken will work with the Executive Director and Special Collections Consultant to organize 10-12 visual art and rare book, manuscript, and archive exhibitions and installations a year. Steneken will also help administer the Library’s Books for Teachers program, which coincides with the Summer Book Sale, expand early childhood literacy services, and spearhead new partnerships with senior centers, institute new services for homebound older adults, as well as expand literacy opportunities for area families in need.
Ms. Steneken received her MA in Museum Studies and Non-profit Management from Johns Hopkins University in 2016 and has served as a Museum Educator at Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, PA. Steneken was the Director of Education for Friends of the Hermitage, Inc., in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ where she planned, marketed, implemented, evaluated, and reported on educational programs for school groups (preK-12), teachers, and families. She also worked as a Research Assistant in Bucknell University’s Archives and Special Collections in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania where she researched and designed exhibits, organized and cataloged collection resources, and prepared class lectures. Steneken has also been a lead classroom teacher at Growing Place Nursery School and an Editorial Assistant for Enslow Publishers, Inc., in Berkeley Heights, NJ. Steneken is member of the American Association of State and Local History and the New England Museum Association.
