WHS Wins 2017 CLHO Award of Merit

MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Connecticut League of History Organizations (CLHO) proudly announces that Westport Historical Society is the recipient of an Award of Merit for Exploring Westport History at the Wheeler House. The CLHO Award of Merit is a prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of Connecticut history. 

This year, CLHO is proud to confer thirteen awards honoring people, projects, exhibits, books, and organizations. The winners represent the best in the field and provide tangible examples of leadership for the future of Connecticut history. Presentation of the awards will be made at a special ceremony during the 2017 CLHO Annual Conference in Meriden, CT on Monday, June 5. To register for the conference, please visit www.clho.org.

The Connecticut League of History Organizations presents the Award of Merit to institutions and individuals who demonstrate the highest of professional standards, and who enhance and further the understanding of Connecticut history. The purpose of the Award of Merit program is to recognize the care, thought and effort invested in these contributions and to inspire and encourage others by acknowledging exceptional contributions to state and local history. The Connecticut League of History Organizations, founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit professional organization of individuals and institutions working to preserve and promote the history of Connecticut.  From its headquarters at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut, CLHO provides leadership, service, and support for its members who preserve and interpret local history in order to make the past more meaningful. The CLHO also sponsors regional training workshops, peer networking, the two-year StEPs-CT program and an annual conference. Generous funding is provided by Connecticut Humanities.
