Kids' Author Bob Shea @ Pequot Library, Tues. April 29

Southport, CT -- With bells, whistles, horns, and tubas, the Children's Department at Pequot Library proudly announces a festive event by superstar author and illustrator Bob Shea. Tuesday, April 29th at 4:00pm, Mr. Shea will open the new series for children, Meet the Author, Jr. This program is free and open to the public.

This initiative mirrors Pequot Library's popular adult Meet the Author series, where a prominent author speaks for 30 minutes, followed by a Q & A and book signing. Pequot's Meet the Author, Jr. is designed to foster an intimate, inspiring connection between children and those who create for children. Mr. Shea will razzle and dazzle, demonstrate and draw, read, entertain, and engage ages 3+.

This wacky and fun-loving author has written and illustrated over a dozen picture books, including the popular Dinosaur vs. Bedtime and Big Plans books. His characters and animations have appeared on PBS Kids, Nick Jr., Noggin, Playhouse Disney and Comedy Central. His recent book, Unicorn Thinks He's Pretty Great was awarded Best Picture Book of 2013 by Parents Magazine. Shea's most recent book is Buddy and the Bunnies in: Don't Play with Your Food.

Pequot Library's children's book festivals offer children and their parents the opportunity to visit with some of the publishing industry's leading children's book authors, attend workshops, and purchase signed copies of their most popular titles. Meet the Author, Jr. provides similar opportunities, on a smaller scale, for extended dialog and interactive experiences with authors of note. Books will be available for purchase after Bob Shea's presentation.
