Greenfield Hill Dogwood Fest Set for May 2-4

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A long-time tradition that shepherds in the spring season, Greenfield Hill Congregational Church's 79th Annual Dogwood Festival will once again take place on the church's beautiful grounds and town square on May 2nd through May 4th surrounded by the historical Greenfield Hill neighborhood. This year's festival will take place a week prior to Mother's Day just as it did last year.

The Dogwood Festival is the harbinger of spring and the whole town of Fairfield has come to own the symbol of the Dogwood. The feeling of driving up Bronson Road to see the beauty of the pink, white, and purple blooms against the stark contrast of an early spring sky is extraordinary.

"Our 79th Dogwood Festival is a time-honored tradition that has had a strong evolution and continues to receive extensive community support," said Greenfield Hill Congregational Church's co-minister, Alida Ward. "We will be featuring long-time arts and crafts vendors, as well as several new artisans and craftspeople this year. The weekend-long events are shaping up to be some of our most comprehensive and exciting events of the year in Fairfield and perhaps since the Festival's inception," she added.

"We support local, national and international charities like Operation Hope, Children At Risk Fund, Janus House, Center for Women & Families, and Project Learn and many more through our mission board. The Dogwood Festival is a part of the fabric of the local community," said David Rowe, co-minister of the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church.

Tom Wambach, Dogwood Festival Committee Chair and longtime church member added, "The Dogwood Festival has, for 79 years, been a wonderful tradition within the Fairfield community. Our congregation pulls together to make it the success that it is every year. We work hard and have a lot of fun together. We couldn't do this without all our dedicated volunteers. All of our net profit goes to support charities."
