Following years of planning and after 18 months of construction, on Friday, Aug. 29, at 5:30 am, the Westport Weston Family Y will open the doors to its new 54,000 sq. ft. facility at 14 Allen Raymond Lane.
This first day of operations will be reserved for Y members; the new Family Y will be open free of charge to all members of the community over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend, Aug. 30-Sept. 1.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 28 at 7 pm and will involve Y volunteers, donors, staff and members as well as an array of state and local civic leaders and public officials.
"Having served the community for the past 90 years at our original location in downtown Westport, at long last we are poised to begin the next chapter in our Y's history in our modern new home," says Family Y CEO Rob Reeves.
