Southport, CT – Jane O’Connor, the best-selling author of the “Fancy Nancy” books for 4 - 10 year olds, spoke to a crowd of 120 emerging and young readers in the Reading Room at Pequot Library on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Wearing an orange boa around her neck, O’Connor engaged the standing-room-only free program by showing pictures and asking the audience to participate in balancing bananas on their heads. Filled with tutus, hair bows, youngsters, and parents, O’Connor and the multitude of children then read together from one of O’Connor’s books, Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet. Ample time for book purchasing and signing followed. The next author in Pequot Library’s Meet the Author, Jr. series will be Peter Sis, The Pilot and the Little Prince: The Life of Antoine de Saint Exupery, on Sunday December 7, at 4pm.
